A Letter To My Future Self..

Dear Future Me,

First of all, I hope you’re well. I hope you are smiling when reading this and you are thinking about the time you were actually writing this when you were sat in your uni room on that rainy afternoon. I want you to take a break from whatever you are doing, step outside, take a deep breath, and just take the time to reflect on how far you've come in the past years.

So, where do we begin? How did that five-year plan going you made? Is that New York apartment in sight yet? Don’t worry if it’s not, you’re getting there. Key words there: Don’t worry.

Let's move on shall we... Like I said I want you to take a break from your life right now; close your eyes and think back to your old self from ten years ago. I want this letter to be a reminder of all those memories, thoughts, dreams and goals. You're probably reading this thinking what is the point of this but basically, I wanted to remind you of some advice that I have given my friends and family, but never really followed myself:

I hope you are happy and truly fulfilled with the life you are living right now. As well as a hundred percent in love with your own life. I hope you have learned to love yourself with all your flaws and weaknesses. If not, don’t compare yourself to anyone else.

♡ You better be proud of yourself and the person you have become. Who cares where others are in life, you need to be proud of whatever you have accomplished so far. At this point of your life, you can hopefully say that you successfully graduated from university, and had a few successful years working in industry doing something you love, made friends that will be your best friends forever and made the best memories with those best friends too.

Don’t waste your time on boys, people, or things that destroy your happiness. You deserve the best company with someone that loves you as much as you love them, you deserve happiness. Again don’t stress over boys, and don’t spend the whole day waiting for some stupid boy’s reply. You deserve better.

♡ Finally, never forget to be the person you are. Don't ever go changing for somebody or something. Keep believing in your dreams, never let someone with a smaller mindset tell you that your dreams are too big. Never forget that there are people and family who love you endlessly. AND never ever lose your dreams that are bigger than the whole universe.

With love, your 18-year-old self
xoxo

ps. I know you were really terrified of leading an average, ordinary life with a regular job and an invariable routine of planned holidays and fixed responsibilities. So here's a reminder if you are doing all of those boring things. Stop! Change and do something and anything different to be remembered by because that's what you really wanted.
