Saying Goodbye To 2016

Just like each year, another year has flown by and I’m amazed at how quickly it’s gone! It honestly feels as though I’ve blinked and the whole thing has just whizzed by in front of me. 2016 has seen many highlights alongside a few challenges. I experienced things I never thought I would be lucky enough to experience.

I love doing these blog posts because it’s one of those I love going back to read as a nice reminder of how much can change and how much I have grown as a person. So expect a very lengthy post that may get emotional as I can already tell I'll end up welling up whilst typing away on the keyboard for the next couple of hours!

For me this last year for me has been a year full of changes. I've lived in three different houses, moved away to a different city, started university, lost people in my life and made many amazing friends along the way. It all sounds super exciting, and looking back it really has been. But during these changes there has been challenges and downs that I've had to deal with in many ways and I couldn't of done it without the support and help from my family and close friends.

I could talk for ages about each month, what happened, why and how it's made me stronger blah blah... Sooooo, instead of boring you all to death I'm just going to post a selection of my favourite photos from my year I'll leave a little caption summing it up.

(Cue a long list of photos and memories)

4th January was the day I was legally out on the roads eek!!
Being able to say I've been fortunate to meet my favourites is an absolute honour. Never did I think that standing outside their hotel in Glasgow would mean I'd get to meet and hug the boys.
p.s. cheers to Emily Wilkinson for being the finishing touch to my photo with James ;)
Celebrating my 18th with amazing friends and family xox
Formal with the girlies where we all got glammed up for one night only.
Being able to spend time with friends despite the distance. People who have internet friends or friends in different cities / countries know how fricking amazing it is when you get to spend time with them. Here's to 2017,  Emily xox
Three words: NEW YORK CITY!!!!!
Who would have thought dancing in a muddy field to Rihanna and David Guetta would so much fun! TB to V Fest with my faves :)
Finally, starting uni and making some of the best friends in the world!! People say the friends you make at uni are the ones who stick by you through the rest of your life. I bloody hope so as I love my Irish buddies!!
After what feels like a crazy year with many experiences and changes, I finally feel happy with myself and who I am. I'm doing a degree in something I love, spending time with friends and family who mean something very special to me. And as for this little space I like to call my blog, I’m loving every second of it, more than I ever thought I would.

I mean I wasn't really planning on such a long rambling post but after all, life is too short for anything less. This is a new year, and yes, I am one of those people who makes hundreds of resolutions for themselves, so I’ll also attempt to drink more water, do squats and remove my makeup every single night, but we all know that'll last about a week before I forget or order a takeaway.  I just want to thank you. Thank you for always reading, for commenting, and supporting me on this weird wonderful journey we call 'life'.

So here’s to another year of challenges, friends and happiness.

Love you, I really mean that xxx

Ultimate Christmas Party Playlist

12 Days of Blogmas : Day 12

Happy 'Christmas Eve' Eve!! AHHH I am so so hyped for Christmas now, these past few days have been really getting me in to the Christmas spirit. Obviously around this time of year most of us are out partying for the Christmas celebrations and bringing in the New Year in style.

If you're anything like me then you'll love a good dance and good drink with friends and I'm usually left sorting out the party bops for pre-drinks. Now I want to share it with all of you, so you can dance along to all my favourite tunes. I always put it on shuffle so I never know what to expect to come on next and i play it through the Sony speakers on full volume I have so it blasts through the whole house, and it’s the best thing to lift your mood. Let me know if I’ve missed any VITAL songs or if you've got any mood-lifting, bangers that need to be added to the playlist.

Christmas Movie Night In

12 Days of Blogmas : Day 11

What else is there to do when you're baby sitting a bunch of girls at Christmas time apart from sitting in at home by the fire, eating popcorn, festive treats and watching Christmas movies. I find sitting down to watch a Christmas movie is the perfect way to get into the festive spirit!

It was so difficult for us all to decide on which one to watch but after much debate we decided on Nativity and Home Alone, because who doesn't love cheesy American Christmas films!

What is your favourite Christmas film?

Feeling Festive in Edinburgh

12 Days of Blogmas : Day 10

This year I have been very fortunate to travel around to new cities and explore. I went to Edinburgh during the summer and I LOVE the city so when I was asked if I wanted to go visit the city again at Christmas I couldn't say no plus it meant spending time with the fam which I love.

On Monday we headed up to Edinburgh and their Christmas markets! I just love visiting different cities especially round the festive period. Without me talking through everything we did I just wanted to share a few of my favourite photos from the day I spent with my family up in Edinburgh.

Ps. Sorry for missing a few days,  I was catching up with friends and family!!

Too Much Sparkle?

12 Days of Blogmas : Day 7

With it only being one week left to Christmas and if you've still got your works Christmas party or you've still got to sort out that perfect outfit for New Year's Eve and need inspiration then look no further.

Last night I was out for my friends birthday and it was nice to get everyone together as I hadn't seen most them since the beginning of September. We decided that'd we would all get glammed up and I couldn't resist getting something with a little bit for sparkle for the dance floor. I thought it would be nice to make to make this into an outfit post seeing as this is quite fitting if you're struggling for outfit inspo and also because I’ve been a little spend on Missguided recently so I OBVS have to share my buys with you lot!

What I wore:
Missguided Silky Shimmer Pleat Shift Dress in black which has the most lush cross back strap detail. I accompanied it with another Missguided item which was the rose gold charm choker.  My heels are from Public Desire and are nude lace up with a gold ornate heel which had the finish bit of sparkle to my outfit however you can't see them as I didn't have them on in the photos oops.

Coming Home for Christmas

12 Days of Blogmas : Day 6

FINALLY I'M ON MY WAY HOME FROM UNI  FOR THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS!!

I am currently sat on my train home as I type this and it'll go live when I get in and have seen my family. As much as I have loved my first semester of first year, I'm beyond happy to get home for six weeks!

There has been ups, downs and many laughs. If you've seen my previous posts you'll know that I get along sooooo well with flat mates as we had christmas dinner, went ice skating and thats all been in the space of the past week.

*cue paragraph that's all emosh*

Moving away and starting uni was one of my biggest fears, the thought of not knowing anyone at the start, not having friends from home or family near by scared me a little. However, thinking back now it has been one of my best decisions. I have met some amazing people who I like to call friends and will hopefully be for life and as for my course, I'm really enjoying it which is the main thing (even though it may get stressful with deadlines but that's uni I suppose).

Now I am back I'll be spending time with family and friends as we've all got a lot to catch up on, all the stories and tales from my first semester and what they've been up to too. Plus sitting on this train the views are actually really nice so here is a few snaps of my journey and being reunited with my family!!

But for now, I hope you're all enjoyed my '12 Days of Blogmas' and I'll see you guys tomorrow. x

PS. Shoutout to my two favourite Irish buddies, Ciara and Josh, who are flying home today too!

Christmas Gift Wrapping Ideas

12 Days of Blogmas : Day 5

There’s nothing I love more than getting creative and mixing things up when it comes to Christmas / gift wrapping however I am the worlds worse at it! But, this year I have found the perfect way keep it simple yet looking super Christmassy. After scouring through many pins on Pinterest it's kinda hard not to be inspired in every way possible.

These few ideas I'm going to share are super easy and kinda fun at the same time! All you need is plain brown cardboard boxes which are so cheap but they make such a lovely base and saves struggling with wrapping too. I then decorated with ribbon, string and lots of festive bits and pieces!!

Winter Product Picks

12 Days of Blogmas : Day 4

With the weather being cold, windy and wet it means my skin is now dry with regular breakouts. I often feel that soon as one spot has healed another three are already approaching. My skin, body, hair, hands, EVERYTHING needs a lot of TLC round this time of year.

SO I recently I have been using a few products which I feel are helping clear everything up and keeping my skin hydrated over these cold months. Enough of me rambling on, here are a few of my favourites right now:

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Concentrated Hand Cream : £2.10
I don't know about you but I feel like my hands get the worst over winter and this particular hand cream is a rich, concentrated cream and is perfect as it softens, smoothes and relieves very dry skin.

Bio-Oil : £8.99
I literally swear by this product. I have been using it for two months for uneven skin tone and dehydrated skin. It has helped fade away any acne scarring I have had in the past and keeps my skin hydrated and helps replenish the skin's natural oils which have been stripped away by wearing excessvie makeup as well the harsh windy weather at the moment.

Garnier Moisture Match Skin Boosting - Wake Me Up : £3.99
This facial moisturiser is my everyday go-to product curly because if you're the type of person who has those days when your skin looks a bit dull and needs a 'wake up call' then I would definitely recommend this. It gives my skin the hydration it needs in the winter time and keeps me fresh faced and ready to kick start the day.

Carmex Ultra Moisturising Lip Balm Pomegranate SPF : £3.25
I tend to forget about my lips until I go to put an autumnal coloured matte lipstick to discover their broken and chapped. I had been using Vaseline previous to this however the Carmex products are extra moisturising and they make your lips feel incredible.

FrankBody Scrub : £11.95
Finally, you're probably sick to death of me banging on about the Frank Bod products but honestly I am so in love with their coffee scrub. I've been using it twice a week for nearly a month now and it is leaving my skin feeling amazing, which I thought was totally impossible to do right now as I am covered in breakouts!

What have been your favourite winter products so far?

Christmas Came Early

12 Days of Blogmas : Day 3

So first semester is pretty much finished and I've made some of the most amazing friends in my first 12 weeks of being here. Leaving for Christmas wouldn't be the same without having a flat Christmas dinner like the little (well sort of big) family we are. Accompanied with the night in watching movies and exchanging our secret santa gifts!

I just wanted to share this cute evening / night we had last night and have it as a keepsake for us all to look back on in future years!!

Thank you to my secret Santa (aka Ciara for spoiling me) xoxo

Christmas Ice Skating Rinks

12 Days of Blogmas : Day 2

Us British love a bit of Christmas. From decking the house with ridiculous amounts of decorations and fairy lights to bringing out a “festive flavour” in pretty much every food known to man, we just can’t get enough.

Whilst checking out the Christmas markets my friends and I decided the only way to continue on the Christmas spirit was a spot of ice skating. The cold, the sharing of experience with friends, the hot chocolate, festive lights and not forgetting the seasonal tunes. So, whenever you are in Manchester this month, there are ice skating rinks popping up all over the place so head to either the Cathedral Gardens or London Road Fire Station in the city centre.

Manchester Christmas Markets

12 Days of Blogmas : Day 1

My first year living down in Manchester and I am in lovveeeee with the Christmas Markets. If you’ve never been, the majority of the market stalls are at Albert Square, but you can also find them dotted around Manchester, including St Ann’s Square, King Street, the Corn Exchange, Market Street, and more!

This year I’ve been twice already, and it’s only the 12th December! The first time I went with a few of my flat mates and second was with my mum, sister and grandma. Both times have been so so good, it's really got me in to the Christmas spirit. We walked round most of the stalls, had german sausage hot dogs and of course German beer. Definitely recommend!

Shoutout to my girl Ciara since it's her birthday!! xo
Plus it’s a great place to get some cute Christmas photos! So many wooden huts, pretty decorations and fairy lights about. A bloggers dream!
